jenny on halloween 2011It’s been years since I’ve gone out for Halloween but I still remember the good times I had as a kid. Next to Christmas it was my most special time of the year.

I lived on a farm and had to go a couple of miles into to town. I didn’t have much control over where I went until I was old enough to ride my bike into town.

That’s when Halloween became a whole lot more fun. I even had a route all planned out that would allow me to get the most houses in and get back home by the required time. I think it was about 9pm and to about 10pm before the next phase of Halloween arrived.

Halloween And Girls

As I got older Halloween trick or treating made way for Halloween parties and of course girls. Even though I was probably the most shy guy among all my friends I still always had a girlfriend and a great time.

Time moved us all apart and I haven’t seen most of those friends in many years. It’s kind of sad when I look back but what I have today is worth the changes and I met the girl I would marry.

We had a son and guess what, he loves Halloween. How strange is that?

A lot of costumes have come and gone through our doors from Nija Turtles to Pirates.

It’s 26 years later and today is once again Halloween.

Seen a lot of different weather on Halloween in the years I remember it. Sometimes we were able to go out in light sweaters and other years in snow gear. But you know we always got out and we never complained. Second best time of the year.

This morning Oct. 31st 2011 it was just 2C here in Moncton. And it stayed below 5C, I believe most of the day. I hope all the little ones, and not so little ones, have fun and safe Halloween.

steve-bustedOur son and his girlfriend Alyssa spent the last week helping a friend get her place ready for Saturday night. They had a great time but I think my son had too much to drink and had to be arrested and physically removed…

… to a corner of the room where he was to be taught some kind of lesson, I’m sure.

We are looking forward to seeing what little munchkins come to our door tonight. Hopefully our son is home to keep our dog Honey from licking the kids too much and causing them slip if they should turn to ice.

Happy Halloween
