Had Fresh Peas, Yellow Beans and Some Tender Swiss Chard For Lunch
I have been watching my little vegetable garden day by day and it’s getting more exciting every time I go out there. I notice something growing that I didn’t see the day before.
Like yesterday I saw our first ear of corn forming already. Quite exciting and who doesn’t love a good corn boil.
I also noticed that the contain I chose to try growing potatoes in had a few potatoes already poking their heads out of the dirt. I will put some good top soil over them so as to keep the direct sun off them.
They should make for a great pile of new potatoes shortly.
Now on to my lunch for today.
Today I picked some peas. They are so sweet right now in their fat little pea pods.

I would have had lots more peas but I planted everything a little to close in our new garden and when things started growing they did so well they cut off their own supply of direct sunlight.

I will do much better next year as I plan to more than double the size of our backyard garden.
Next I picked some yellow beans to go with the peas.
The image didn’t come out so well as the beans seemed to be hiding under all the leaves and I had to hold the leaves up with one hand and take the picture with the other. I shake a bit more than I should when taking pictures but you can see them a little.
And then I grabbed a little swiss chard and thought I would try them as a salad ingredient.
As I walked by my raspberry bushes I noticed we still have a few bright red berries left so I grabbed them for a sweet treat after my salad was complete.
