Recovering From Wind And Rain Damage
I really like the little Iris patch we have. Last year we didn’t know we even had them as that area of our yard was still pretty built up and over grown. So we cleared out the shrubs and trees that has started growing there.
Then this year was had these beautiful Irises growing.
I was so enjoying taking pictures of the flowers and shrubs and then it started raining cats and dogs. I think one of the dogs hit my irises on the way day because when I got up this morning they were laying down.
Fortunately they were broken off and I was able to stake them back up straight. They may just survive to give me another week or so of their beautiful flowers.
We also had a few other flowers destroyed, like our first Peony to flower this year. One flower was completely destroyed, the plant is fine, but the second flower looks almost untouched.
The Peonies are beautiful and have only just started to flower so they will be fine. They are also held up by cages, the same as we use for our tomatoes, so hopefully the can stand the rain and wind we have been getting over the past few days.
Next year I think we will stake up a few more flowers once they get tall enough, to prevent losing them before they are done.
