Next Year We Double Our Garden Size
This is our first year with our own garden and we are loving it. I have already written about starting with a 4 foot square garden and found it was way too small and how I increased that to what we have now, 16×4 feet.
Well as much as we are enjoying our new garden it`s still not big enough so we have decided that we will at least double the size.
I will keep the 16×4 section we have now and leave a space large enough to kneel and to be able to mow, so I think I will just leave a 4 foot strip between them.
That spacing will leave plenty of room to walk, mow and to use the wheel barrel we haven`t purchased yet.
We Are Ready To Purchase A Wheel Barrel
Yeah, we are buying a wheel barrel before we start gardening again next year. We may just get one before the fall so we can do more in the yard with less energy.
It will be great to put our garden tools in so I take just one trip from the garage instead of 4 or 5 trips.
I have seen the wheel barrel that I think will use the least amount of energy to push around. It has two larger wheels on each side rather than just the one wheel in front.
It`s made by Rubbermaid and will never rust, plus it`s constructed in one piece for the body and handle so it should never break down either.
I spent too many years pushing concrete around in one of those old wheel barrels with the single wheel in the front. Not sure how many barrels of cement I tipped trying to keep it balanced.
I am thinking the two wheeler is more my style now and much easier to balance. It will be easier for both myself and Jenny.
I was looking at Rubbermaid Black 7.5 Cu. Ft. Big Wheel® Cart Sold Individually. It seems to be solid and will carry everything we have to haul around the yard.
A wheel barrel is just what we need to haul soil, mulch, peat moss, yard waste and trimmings. Not sure how many trips back and forth from the garage we made this year but a wheel barrel will save us so much time and energy. A great investment in our backyard and garden plus we will have more energy left at the end of the day to enjoy what we have done so far.
