Learn to be a Gardener the easy way.

I have wanted to learn to be a gardener for many years, even though I grew up on a farm and had to weed a lot of garden. Back then I had no desire to be in the garden unless I was sneaking something out for myself.
Now it’s almost 50 years later and I finally have the opportunity to learn to be a gardener along with my wife. We even purchased the lot next to our home so we could start our backyard garden.
I am sitting here looking out my office window into what used to be our garden, now it’s just banks of drifted snow from the last snow storm. We are still digging out. I want my garden back.
The past couple of years have really been a growing experience for us and we have learned a little about what we want our backyard gardens to look like. We are also planning our first real vegetable garden.
This year we are planning square foot gardening in raised beds as well. We are not as young as we once were so we are looking for ways that will save us time and energy. The fact that our soil is like concrete helped us to decide to go with raised beds.
We will start small, I am thinking two squares about 4 feet each. That should give us a good idea if we are going about this the right way.
Who would have though that many years ago that I would want to learn to be a gardener? Certainly not my parents.
